Organic matter casting

Organic matter casting is definitely one of my favorite methods for creating jewelry truly inspired by nature.  Basically this is a casting technique using actual organic matter such as pine cones, succulents , leaves, twigs , even bugs and turning them in precious metal to create a very realistic piece that will take from of organic matter during the burn-out and make it last forever. This process involves its own special casting tricks ,techniques and always comes with a few risks. Casting living tissue matter is much different than the usual methods done with wax and resin.  The soft tissue of plants and organic matter responds differently burnout-cycle so its important that each step in this process is done very carefully for it to turn out good. I am very fortunate that my mentor Britten Wolf owner of BVW Jewelers in Reno, NV who I currently apprentice under knows all the tricks for this process and has helped me cast all the succulents , pin cones , etc that I have been using in my organic matter collection .
